A creative studio built on curiosity.

BUBU Studio is where materials meet ideas. A place where craft becomes expression and experimentation is the only method we trust. We work across different materials, methods and media, always driven by the question: what happens if we try this?

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Both are fine. Founded by Alizay and Jan, BUBU Studio grew out of a shared love for making things with your hands and the belief that creativity is better when it's shared.

Co-founder · Artist & painter

Alizay

Alizay's world is colour, texture and layered expression. With a background in art and painting, she brings a painter's eye to everything BUBU Studio touches. She's the one who first picks up a material and asks: what else can this do?

Co-founder · Creative director & designer

Jan

Jan comes from the world of marketing and design, where he spent years shaping brand identities and visual strategies. He brings intentionality and a bold aesthetic to every project. He's the one who turns an idea into a system.

How it all started

We found tufting in 2020. It stuck around.

We came across tufting during one of the quietest, strangest periods any of us had known. It turned out to be exactly what we needed: something physical, meditative, something that produced something real at the end of a session. The tufting gun became a kind of anchor.

We're social people. We love sharing what we know, and we believe this craft deserves more people doing it. That's why we run workshops, and why every class still feels like something we genuinely look forward to.

Beyond the workshops

Jan Fechner, drip tufting

Drip tufting is Jan Fechner's own technique and style: wool gradients built thread by thread, melting forms, poppy colour. His studio work and commissions live on his own artist page, separate from the workshops.
